IClimate activist Louisa Neubauer in a video made a joke. „We plan to blow up a pipeline,” Neubauer said in English, laughing. The Instagram video was filmed in Denmark, where the „Copenhagen Democracy Summit” is currently being held. I mentioned „photo” first.
In the video, Neubauer spoke out against the East African crude oil pipeline (EACOP) to be held between Uganda and Tanzania from 2025. According to politicians, it can reduce poverty in both countries and is expected to cost ten billion dollars. With a length of 1,400 km, it will be the longest crude oil pipeline in the world. Commissioned by the French oil company Total Energy.
The 26-year-old Neubauer noted on Twitter that her drafting was also the title of a book. This is „How to Blow Up a Pipeline” by Swedish author and climate researcher Andrew Malm. He is considered a pioneer of the radical climate movement.
When asked by Bild, Neubauer commented on the pipeline project, but not on her own statement: “The EACOP project alone will produce roughly half a gigatonne of CO2. That’s why we’ve been working for months with activists from the region, like Uganda and Tanzania, as well as with many people from France against the pipeline that France Total wants to build.”
The „climate killer pipeline” should not be built. “Almost all German insurers and banks – with the exception of Deutsche Bank – refused to support the project – because it was too harmful. (…) The construction of the EACOP pipeline should be scrapped.”
Storch files criminal charges against Neubauer
After Neubauer’s joke plans, the AfD’s deputy federal spokeswoman, Beatrix von Storch, also spoke. She filed a criminal complaint against the climate activist, related to the threat of bombing attacks. According to Storch, the climate sect is becoming increasingly radical, as climate extremist Andreas Malm recently demonstrated with his call for violence in Der Spiegel.
“There is a threat from climate terrorism, RAF green. The Attorney General and the BfV office must not look and act: zero tolerance for violence and the threat of violence by young professionals neglected by their fortunes and who are preparing for their entry into environmental terrorism,” Storch explained.
